Situated between of Elizabethton and Roan Mountain, Hampton has a population of over 4,000 people.

 

As a wonderful, small community, in a broad valley, Hampton is also a gateway to the Watauga Lake area, as well as many hiking, camping, fishing, and other outdoor activity areas. The Appalachian Trail even passes through the eastern edge of this small mountain community.

 

The primary economy is mainly from the tourism which results from being situated within the Cherokee National Forest.
